A motherless child, Sultan (played by Karthi) is raised by a group of hardened criminals. He loves these 100 men as brothers, but despises their taste for violence. After the death of his father, the responsibility of taking care of these people falls on the Sultan's shoulders. That's when he decides to replace them and teaches them to live as civilized people. This is a difficult act, but the loyalty and love they have towards these men gives Sultan a chance to fight.

The Sultan aims to protect his brothers from the police operation, which is trying to rid Chennai of the miscreants. He feels that Yogi Babu's Bob Aaka Babu has given him a chance to lie about a marriage proposal from a remote village. The sultan decided to take the entire swamp to the village to keep them out of trouble. He does not know that he is just walking into the position he is so desperate to avoid.

The film's high production value and strong emotional beats make it an entertaining watch. Director Bakkiraj Kannan's tenacity rests on the belief that men are inherently good. The experienced criminal who shakes the entire city is powerless in front of the Sultan. They do not raise a finger even when the Sultan surrounds them. The film also tracks the inner journey of the protagonist, who realizes that she cannot make omelets without breaking a few eggs.

Every scene in the film works both emotionally and logically. Bakkiraj composed scenes that allow him to take full advantage of the cinematic experience of showing 100-strong men dancing in the formation of a war. There are some Zack Snyder-esque cinematic moments, most notably in the climate action sequence.

Sultan of Bakkiraj Kannan is a huge improvement on his debut film, Remo. In 2016, the romantic comedy with Sivakarthikeyan followed the efforts of one man to seduce the girl of his dreams. The hero was ready to go to any length so that the girl fell in love with him. She even dresses like a nurse to achieve her goal. The way the protagonist justified his deception in the name of love, I had a problem. In other words, I had a problem with the writing of Bakkiyaraja, which brought pride to an act that lacked decency and courage.

From Remo to Sultan, it is a huge leap for Bakkiraj. The director has removed any of his writing and attempts to rationalize every action of his protagonist. Instead, he puts his hero in a difficult situation, forcing him to make a choice. This creates a lot of dramatic tension and helps us warm up the hero who goes through a lot of trouble to do the right thing, which will allow him to sleep peacefully at night.
